Family Support Worker
We are recruiting a Family Support Worker (This post will involve flexible working to facilitate the needs of the projects. The hours will include days, evenings and weekends by rota).
Family Support Worker: 37 hours per week by rota
Salary: £17,333 per annum
Annual Leave: 25 days annual leave plus public holidays
Pension: 4% employee contribution, 8% employer contribution
Location: Bangor – The place of work will be at a range of venues including refuge, advice centre and in community venues but due to the nature of this job the post holder will be required to work at or travel to any place which the organisation requires, including other local Women’s Aid refuges.
This post is funded by the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust and is subject to continued funding.
Summary of Post
The Family Support Worker is employed by NDAWA to work with the project teams to provide support and information to children young people and mothers.
- To be aware of the needs of children/young people and mothers in the projects and work as part of a team to ensure that these needs are met.
- To be aware of, and to promote, the principles underpinning children’s rights and parental responsibilities.
- To work as part of a team with direction to maintain recreational and supported play facilities and services for children/young people and mothers in refuge, advice centre and community settings.
- To work as part of a team to identify, assess and respond to the physical, psychological, emotional, social and educational needs of all the children/young people and mothers.
Applicant Essential Criteria
- A minimum of 1 years’ experience providing ongoing individual support for both women and children or family support in a residential or community setting.
- Recent experience of working with individuals in crisis.
- Recent experience of clients with complex needs.
- IT skills – experience of record keeping with Microsoft Word and database in line with data protection.
- Proven ability to give practical and emotional support and guidance.
- A recognised relevant qualification at a minimum of NVQ level 3 (or equivalent).
- A full driving licence and use of a car or ability to provide their own method of transportation.
- Able to meet enhanced Access NI requirements.
- Legally entitled to work in the UK.
